Impressions after the Festival

We were a small group of brave women, looking forward to discover a bit more of our femininity and intimacy through the tango close embrace.
During two hours, gradually the bodies were getting more in complicity with the partner and also getting lost into the unknown pathways of the dramatic and passionate tango lyrics.
Is always fascinating lead the incredible process of a beginning group,  that in two hours learn how to embrace, walk together, listen and guess each other... How they change their looking, their body language, their way of listening and at the end I always discover a small smile drawn on their faces. That's Tango for me.
Sometimes, when I go to the "Milonga" I can not see in most of the couples these humble surrender…

I want to thank the girls with this Tango made for a woman, the tango is called "Malena" and the dancers are amazing. Geraldine Rojas is one of my favorite dancers, she always inspired me with her strong presence.

You have been so lovely, free and relax!! And also thanks to Jaime, for inviting me and for the nice comment that I attach below!

It was a beautiful Saturday morning. Thanks for being there!

"Getting close with Tango’s intimate embrace. I never thought about the fears of letting go and being close in relation to dance but the initial moments in a Tango embrace can be a bit challenging! However, once you are able to relax and listen to your partner’s body you start to glide across the floor and the beauty of the dance unfolds with each step. We were a group of brave hearts this morning as Rosabel lead us deeper into our bodies and around the room.
We started off learning how to embrace each other and how to be lead. The most important parts of how to communicate with your partner so you can begin the basic Tango steps. Once we were all a bit more comfortable in each other’s arms our legs also became more free and the steps became bigger and dramatic- more Tango!
It was really a special feeling to be embraced in the Tango, I don’t think any other dance is quite like it. It’s subtle beauty and charm, the intimacy….I can’t wait to learn more. Rosabel was an amazing and patient teacher, who was able to give us helpful technical and personal pointers. She brought humor and passion to the lesson and we were all quite thankful for such a gentle, thoughtful and exciting introduction into Tango."

"Cállate y abrázame" at the Festival 48-Stunden-Neukölln

The Festival

48 Stunden Neukölln is an annual, decentrally organised festival of the arts which has grown to become the largest event of its kind in Berlin. In 2011, more than 330 venues in northern Neukölln offered around 770 individual to mark the occasion. Around c. 1,700 people, around 1% of the populace of northern Neukölln. Visitors come from all over the world to Neukölln, providing the area with influences from the more diverse cultures and traditions. All this adds up to the opportunity to enjoy this unique experience.
The festival is organised by “Kulturnetzwerk Neukölln e. V.” since 1999, a weekend has been devoted to presenting a gamut of artistic activity to a most varied audience. Every organisation, initiative, and individual artist in Neukölln is cordially invited to get involved in the festival. Additionally, artists from further afield (both from the rest of Germany and from abroad) are provided with a framework to conduct artistic experiments in all sorts of spaces. Important aspects of the event include the communication facilitated between artists and their audiences, and a number of offerings in which residents of the area, and visitors, where ever they come from, can also actively participate in.
Approximately 70,000 visitors took advantage of this cultural opportunity in 2010: they viewed examples of all imaginable art forms, from performance, the visual arts, intervention in unusual contexts, dance, theatre, music and especially, activities in which one gets actively involved.
48 Stunden Neukölln can only be made possible through the tireless energies of all the artists as well as those responsible for each venue, most of whom do so on a voluntary basis. Neukölln provides the ideal location for realising and viewing innovative potential in social-minded art projects.

The Workshop

During the 18th of June, will take place at "The Center for Endless Progress" a small Tango Workshop for beginners. Free!!
For an hour and a half we will try to explore the secrets of the tango embrace. From our normal way of embracing we will transform this feeling into a surrender emptiness that allows us to connect with the rhythm and the music.
We are going to learn how to find the dialog between the men roll and the woman roll through the basic steps.
But the main thing is have the chance to discover this amazing dance that allows us to enter in our deepest passions…

Place:
The Center of Endless Progress
Berthelsdorferstr, 10
